about Yoga
Yoga is a comprehensive method of moving our bodies in such a way that the physical body - its care - its well-being - its health - its strength are all maintained in its natural and normal state of health.
Originating from India, with its roots tracing back as far as 6000 years, yoga can be adopted into our daily lifestyles by people of all ages and with varying conditions of health.
Yoga postures are linked primarily with 'Core Movements', resulting in improved structure and function of the body. Key elements of alignment, energetics, breathing and attentiveness are often best introduced and developed through Yoga / Core Movement.
Silence and stillness are encouraged when practicing yoga. This allows students to reflect on who they are, and improve composure and concentration.
I have been attending Shane's Ashtanga yoga classes for 5 years. During that time I have benefited from his guidance and genuine commitment as a teacher. His commitment to each individual's practice provides a balance between challenge and reward. The Ashtanga series offers a time for intensity and a time for softness. Shane's classes have both these aspects resulting in a deeper more meaningful understanding of yoga as a path to understanding one's own body and mind."
